Integrity Mate
ANYONE watching the racing at Grafton at the weekend could not have been more impressed with the youngster Integrity Mate.
The son of Keybow-Let's Win Meisha by El Grand Senor equalled the track record for 350m set in the previous race by Orson Laurie and they now progress to the semi-finals of the $75,000 to the winner series next weekend.
Robbie Andrews has done a fabulous job with Integrity Mate who four runs back broke the Casino 411m track record and in between those record performances won the 484m Beef Week Cup.
With that sort of record, his pedigree certainly needs inspection.
To say he is in-bred is an understatement.
His sire Keybow has a 2x3 of the famous half brothers Big Daddy Cool and Brett Lee both coming via SONS.
His dam Let's Win Meisha is line bred 3x4 to Brett Lee and his close relation No Intent (their mothers are sisters).
But, Integrity Mate also brings into his own pedigree a 4x5 balance of Black Shiraz and a significant cross of the identically bred Flo Jo Tears and Token Prince 4x5 but placed to impact with each other.
Flo Jo Tears is by Malawi's Prince and has a cross of Bay City Roller (Chariot Supreme-Bay Road Queen) in her damline.
Token Prince is a son of Malawi's Prince and he too has Bay Road Queen in his direct damline through his second dam Bay Supreme (Waverly Supreme-Bay Road Queen).
We are all aware that Chariot Supreme is a son of Waverly Supreme ... which makes Bay City Roller and Bay Supreme virtually sisters.
There are other aspects of line breeding in Integrity Mate's pedigree but pushed back into his make-up.
Such intensity can often make for a reduction in stamina, but a heightening of absolute pace. There's no doubt Integrity Mate has that in abundance.
LAST Thursday night at Angle Park, Nugget McLaren won for the Johnstone family and he too is a pedigree that deserves mention.
He is a son of that former staying great Token McLaren-Claretown Belle by Bella Infrared.
Token McLaren shows a 1x2 cross of Token Prince and his virtual sister Jay Lo Mclaren. They are both by Malawi's Prince. Token Prince is out of former great SA staying bitch True Temptation who just happens to be the 2nd dam of Jay Lo Mclaren.
Jay Lo Mclaren's dam is Melinda McLaren (Ginger-True Temptation).
Which brings us to Nugget Mclaren's 4th dam who just happens to be Melinda McLaren.
Thus, last Thursday night's Angle Park winner Nugget Mclaren is line bred 3x5x5 to True Temptation.
His mother Claretown Belle (Bella Infrared-Claretown Annie) won just once, at Angle Park in 29.97, from 13 starts, finished second twice and earned the princely sum of $1500 during her career on the track.
