Eat My Dust

SOME fascinating winners from the past few days will interest breeding enthusiasts.

They include 29.57 Sandown winner Eat My Dust (Barcia Bale-Appointed by Fernando Bale) and Cannington winner Like You (My Redeemer-One For Tiger by Barcia Bale).

Both are bred on the now hugely proven "nick" between the Wheeler family's great stud dogs Barcia Bale and Fernando Bale. It is a cross coming up with more and more Group performers with every week of passing.

Eat My Dust's pedigree is particularly interesting.

His mother, Appointed, is bred on the already proven Fernando Bale/Fabregas cross found in Group stars like Deliver, Fernando Cazz, Fernando Bluey, Slingshot Gypsy, Kiwi star Big Time Brie etc.

When Appointed was mated to Barcia Bale it brought in a reinforcement of the Wheeler family's Gail's Beauty damline, but also a 3x4 of identically bred Hallucinate and Meticulous ... both bred on the Brett Lee/Bobniak cross.

Over in WA, Like You too is bred on the Fernando Bale/Barcia Bale cross.

Like You's sire My Redeemer is by Fernando Bale and Like You's dam One For Tiger is by Barcia Bale.

BUT, what is very similar to Eat My Dust is the fact Like You carries a 3x4 of the litter brothers Where's Pedro and Hallucinate AND an extra cross of their mother Elusive Rebel who is the fourth mother of Like You.

Like You's pedigree is a VERY interesting one.

On Saturday night at Wentworth Park, Mr Ticket (Fernando Bale-Ms Ticket by Fabregas) won in 30.05 to again proven just what a potent "nick" Fernando Bale has with Fabregas.

The influence here is that Chloe Allen (dam of Fernando Bale) is bred identically to Fabregas. They are both from the Black Shiraz sireline and their dams both bring in crosses of Awesome Assassin and Head Honcho.

Mr Ticket (and Deliver, Fernando Cazz etc) are perfect examples of reducing the gene pool in a pedigree to common and dominant ancestors to upgrade for racetrack success.

Mr Ticket comes from a litter of seven named offspring and ALL of them are winners.

But, breeding enthusiasts also should take a close look at his pedigree.

It brings in a 3x1 cross of Primo Uno and Ms Ticket who are virtually brother and sister. They are both from the Black Shiraz sireline and are from the Prima Portrait damline.

Primo Uno is a son of Prima Portrait, while Mr Ticket's 2nd dam Bella Portrait (Just The Best-Prima Portrait) is a half sister to Primo Uno.

There is no doubting Barcia Bale is fast becoming a huge broodbitch sire influence.

Greats like Catch The Thief, Stanley Road, Start A Riot, Mermaid Monelli, Run Like Jess, Tyler Durden, Aston Silk, Sequana etc are out of his daughters and by a variety of sires.

The same already appears to be the future for Fernando Bale.

Thomas O'Donovan, the Irishman who spent a successful time training in Victoria, took home a bitch called Ravenna (Fernando Bale-Sweet Shadow) and has since bred with her.

She is already the mother of G1 Irish St Leger winner Epic Hero (Droopys Jet-Ravenna) and Dualla Prince (2nd G1 Tralee Juvenile Classic).

Over in NZ, the Fernando Bale bitch Corinth Bale has produced a litter by My Bro Fabio which includes Adobe Bro the runner-up in the G1 St Leger.

His pedigree is an absolute saturation of the Wheeler family's foundation bitch Gail's Beauty...tracing to her no fewer than six times.
