Off The Chart

IT would not be lost on those of us who are devoted to all things bloodlines in the greyhound racing world, that the past two winners of the Group 1 Golden Easter Egg are bred on an almost identical pattern.

Both Power And Glory (2025 Egg winner) and Off The Chart (2026 Egg winner) are sons of Hooked On Scotch the Barcia Bale-Nicki Fields dog who was a superstar on the track and is proving himself with a vengeance at stud.

But, what is obvious in the pedigrees of both Power And Glory and Off The Chart is the strong presence of Fabregas in their dams.

So what, I hear you ask.

Well, the Hooked On Scotch/Fabregas cross was already proven way back when Hooked On Scotch got his first runners via his super son Postman Pat.

Postman Pat, he of super racetrack ability and now standing at stud alongside his sire, was also by Hooked On Scotch from a daughter of Fabregas.

And, Postman Pat is from the very same direct damline as Off The Chart.

The common and now G1 proven link in the Hooked On Scotch/Fabregas cross is the fact Misty Fields, second dam of Hooked On Scotch, is bred on an identical cross to Fabregas … but in reverse.

They provide an ideal “balance” for each other.

Misty Fields is by a SON of Larkhill Jo and from a DAUGHTER of Black Shiraz.

Fabregas is by a SON of Black Shiraz and is out of a DAUGHTER of Larkhill Jo.

In both Postman Pat and Off The Chart, Misty Fields and Fabregas come into the pedigree 3x2.

In Power And Glory they are found 3x3.

BUT, in all three cases, they are perfectly placed to hugely impact upon the resultant offspring.

And, the past two winners of the Golden Easter Egg is the result.
