Shima Shine

SATURDAY night's Group 2 Horsham Cup result was a victory for bloodlines intensity if ever there was one.

That monster of the racetrack, Shima Shine (Barcia Bale-Shima Song by Dyna Tron), swept to victory to add to his ever growing reputation. Boxed to win as he did, Shima Shine had come off yet another track record victory in his heat.

He downed Jax Bale and Barooga Smoke to take his record to 32 wins and $611,000 in stakes.

What a dog!

Dave Gleeson and his mate Bob Cummings bred the dog by champion sire Barcia Bale from their Group winning bitch Shima Song a daughter of their Group staying star Shimaguni. It's the "Portrait" family which continues to toss up superstars.

But, a simple glance at the pedigree of Shima Shine shows a 2x2 intensity few breeders are willing to undertake. It incestuously brings in Princess Bale (Hallucinate-Gold Rush Bale) and Dyna Tron (Collision-Gold Rush Bale) and they are positioned to intensely impact with each other.

Which brings us to the Horsham Cup runner-up Jax Bale (Allen Deed-Helma Bale by Bella Infrared).

A look at his pedigree instantly shows he too is bred on a similar cross to Shima Shine.

Jax Bale carries a 2x3 cross of Greta Bale (Where's Pedro-Gold Rush Bale) and Bartrim Bale (Hallucinate-Gold Rush Bale). As everyone knows, Where's Pedro and Hallucinate are litter brothers.

This mates Greta Bale and Bartrim Bale virtual sister and brother.

But, it doesn't stop there with the Horsham Cup.

Fabriola Zad (Allen Deed-Fabriola Allen by SH Avatar) is also in-bred to this family.

He carries a 2x3 cross of Greta Bale and her virtual sister Princess Bale ... the latter is a litter sister to Bartrim Bale.

Interestingly, Jax Bale and Fabriola Zad carry an up-close outcross influence, but Shima Shine does not.

RITZA Lenny is making waves as a young stud dog and I always thought he could do just that if he got the chance with numbers of bitches.

He is from the same direct damline as sire success Zambora Brockie, but intensely in-bred 3x2 to the famous litter brothers Hallucinate and Where's Pedro a hugely proven theme among the best progeny of his sire Barcia Bale.

Among Ritza Lenny's young progeny is Zipping Stewie (Ritza Lenny-Sherbini by My Bro Fabio) and it is a pedigree that should be studied.

Sherbini was a classy race bitch, a stayer from the direct family of Qld GOTY, multiple TR breaker and Group winner Queen Lauryn.

Sherbini was in-bred to that brilliant pace dog Bright Ebony whop, interestingly, has been a source of stamina in pedigrees.

But, Zipping Stewie, who won at Wentworth Park in a slick 29.85 at just his fourth race start for Mark Gatt and the Hallinan family, brings in a 3x4 duplication of Where's Pedro and in a position to greatly impact upon the offspring.

It is very early days, but My Bro Fabio appears certain to be a broodbitch sire of great influence.

WHICH brings me to Extra Malt who lived up to some exciting trials when she backed up a 29.60 win at Albion Park last week with another 29.61 effort a few days later.

Extra Malt is Paw Licking-It Gets Better by Dyna Lachlan.

Dam It Gets Better won plenty of races during her track career and is intensely in-bred to the Wheeler family's Gail's Beauty damline. She is a half sister to G1 Melbourne Cup finalist Shifty Sticka.

It Gets Better was always going to be a broodbitch success. Her pedigree shows 3x3 in-breeding to Vista Bale and her litter sister Winfrey Bale (Golden Currency-Luana Bale).

That great staying dog, Dyna Chancer (Dyna Double One-Cailyn Bale) is also in-bred to daughters of Luana Bale (Vista Bale and Dharma Bale ... half sisters).

Putting It Gets Better to Paw Licking, a virtual outcross mating for the bitch, certainly allowed the intensity of the Gail's Beauty damline to impact upon this mating ... and produce a "hot" young bitch like Extra Malt.
