Ferrero Miss

PAUL and Pam Braddon might not have won the recent Wagga Cup with the extra smart Ferrero Miss, but she is a very classy performer for the kennel and one that has been the result of generation after generation of success for the Cowra couple.

Ferrero Miss is by Spring Gun-Taradearra by Over Flo. She had already won the 2017 Wagga Cup and has been second in a Bathurst Cup and Dubbo Gold Cup, third in the latter as well.

To date she has started 38 times for 12 wins and 18 placings and earned Paul and Pam $31,000 in stakes. When she won the Wagga Cup in 2017, her litter sister Little Cindy finished third. She has won 15 races and earned $27,000.

The Spring Gun-Taradearra litter is a quality one and also includes Spring Jazz (13 wins, $26,000) who just happened to finish second in this year's Wagga Cup, and Trinas Magic (10 wins, $30,000).

Ferrero Miss is the result of five generations of success with this direct female family for the Braddons and there is no doubting they deserve much credit for being able to continually keep the line prospering to the stage it is now producing class runners most of the time.

This is the direct damline of Multi's Special (Pied Rebel-Multi Miller) and is also a damline that Taree legend Kevin Johnson has been nurturing for decades.

Kevin's great sprint bitch Rose Sannette (Cosmic Rumble-Sarah Sannette) won 30 races and was placed 25 times for $47,000 in stakes and was third in a G2 Maitland Gold Cup.

She traces directly to Sannette's Girl who Johnson bought as a potential broodbitch. She had run a track record at Kempsey and won the Autumn Trophy at Newcastle as well as being a Wentworth Park winner. She had close line breeding to the half brothers Mister Moss and Miller's Moss, both out of legend Elsie Moss. Brother Fox and Acacia Park's dam Pitstock Park was bred on exactly the same cross.

The Braddon female family traces directly to Special Moment (Kid Springdale-Multi's Babe).

Lady Sannette, fifth dam of Rose Sannette, is by Wild Port (a son of Kid Springdale)and from Sannette's Girl a daughter of Multi's Special.

The Braddon's have found a goldmine in Taradearra. Her litter to Collision had already produced Hurricane Rino (27 wins, $60,000) as well as Big Jamesy (12 wins) and Little Meeka (16 wins).

Taradearra won eight races and was placed 11 times in just 27 starts.

Her mother Janderra was unraced but her dam Mackie won eight races.

Next dam Secret Moment had eight litters. She was a sister to Rip Van Rip (18 wins, $23,000).

What attracted me to the pedigree of Ferrero Miss is the fact she is hugely in-bred 2x2 to the virtual sister and brother Ready For Rain and Over Flo.

It was a pedigree match that just had to work.

Ready For Rain is the dam of Spring Gun (sire of Ferrero Miss). She is by Big Daddy Cool and her dam Ready To Rain is by Token Prince.

Over Flo is, as I wrote, a virtual brother to Ready For Rain.

He is by Brett Lee (a half brother to ready For Rain's sire Big Daddy Cool).

And, his dam Flo Jo Tears is bred on an identical cross to Token Prince.

I implore anyone even the slightest bit interested to do a "test mating" of Over Flo with Flo Jo Tears.

They are both by Malawi's Prince and they bring in the genetic sisters Bay Supreme and Bay City Roller (both out of famed race bitch and producer Bay Road Queen).

Linking Over Flo and Flo Jo Tears into a pedigree is just about a recipe for success. That's also because they are an ideal "balance" for each other.

Token Prince is a SON of Malawi's Prince, while Flo Jo Tears is a DAUGHTER. Bay Supreme comes into the pedigree of Token Prince through a DAUGHTER in True Temptation, while her genetic sister Bay City Roller comes into the pedigree of Flo Jo Tears through her SON in Captain Standby.

This is not a cross that is done often, but it is a recipe for success. There is a Group class litter in NZ bred on this cross.

It is also why bitches with a cross of Token Prince up close in their pedigree should be tested with Keybow who just happens to have Over Flo as his damsire.

The standout produce from the Braddon's damline is of course Group star Falcon's Fury (Fabregas-Janderra's Fury)the winner of 26 races and $130,000 in stakes.

His third dam is Janderra, third dam of Ferrero Miss.

If one takes the time to check out the success of this line for the Braddons they will be amazed.

I hope the Braddons get the chance to stand Falcon's Fury at stud and that he is giving his chance. His damsire Knocka Norris is a very important ancestor in his make-up.

Bitches by Fernando Bale will be ideal for a mating to Falcon's Fury.

I'd love to see a daughter of Fernando Bale-Ferrero Miss be put to Falcon's Fury ... down the track.

Fernando Bale brings in a cross of Awesome Assassin whose sister Goddess Of Fire is found in the direct damline of Falcon's Fury.

Fernando Bale's fabulous litter that includes Out Of Range and Poke The Bear are bred on this cross.

Far be it for me though to suggest to Paul and Pam Braddon what to do with this damline. They've been perfecting it for decades already.
