Magic Sprite

WATCHING the G1 English Derby final at Towcester, the rails runner Gaytime Nemo pinged out and was never in danger.

Graham Holland trained the winner and it was back-to-back Derby winners for him.

The pedigree of Gaytime Nemo (Droopys Sydney-Gaytime Derval by Magic Sprite) proves yet again the power of the cross of the famous half brothers Sonic Flight and Larkhill Jo. He's the seventh Derby winner bred on this cross. In his pedigree, they come in 4x5x4.

But, what also stands out is the fact Gaytime Nemo's damsire is that wonderful Magic Sprite, the Brett Lee-Glamorous dynamo who gave John and Jane Carruthers so many thrills as a sire.

He is becoming such a high class broodbitch sire.

Gaytime Nemo's success was followed quickly on Thursday night by Sunnyside Zeus in the G2 McKenna Memorial at Sandown.

He is My Redeemer-Minter Bee by Magic Sprite. But, it does not start or stop there.

Consider the other track stars out of daughters of Magic Sprite and you will see what I mean.

  • Typhoon Sammy (Aston Dee Bee-Zabaleta by Magic Sprite)

  • Zack Monelli (Barcia Bale-Penny Monelli by Magic Sprite)

  • Houdini Boy (Zambora Brockie-Peachey by Magic Sprite)

  • Fast Times (Barcia Bale-Clockwise by Magic Sprite)

  • Moment To Jive (Mogambo-Sharon Monelli by Magic Sprite)

  • Stout Monelli (Barcia Bale-Corona Monelli by Magic Sprite)

  • All Hands Off (Barcia Bale-Fays Magic by Magic Sprite)

  • Handsome Prince (SH Avatar-See Blue's Girl by Magic Sprite)

  • Gatlin (Dyna Double One-Von Magic by Magic Sprite)

You would have, by now, noticed the powerful link between Barcia Bale and Magic Sprite.

Two stud dogs dominant for great chase in their progeny.

While on the English Derby, bloodline followers should check out the pedigree of beaten Derby favourite Swords Rex (Droopys Sydney-Starry Display by Droopys Cain).

A slow beginning and the four box put paid to his chances in the final but he'd run the track record at Towcester during the early Derby rounds.

He's a special greyhound and certain to be a sought after stud dog.

His pedigree demands study.

What stands out is that his sire Droopys Sydney and damsire Droopys Cain are half brothers both out of Droopys Laramie. This is a hugely proven theme.

Jackslittlething (Droopys Sydney-Limini by Droopys Nidge) is in-bred 2x2 to Droopys Laramie and her virtual brother Droopys Nidge both carrying the Westmead Hawk-Droopys Sporty cross.

Jackslittlething is, of course, available to Aussie breeders. Give George Farrugia a ring to book. He was third in the G1 Irish Derby and is the fourth fastest ever around Shelbourne Park.

Back to Swords Rex.

He is line bred 4x5 to Aussie great Roanokee, has McInerney's close relation Honcho Classic in his sireline, has a dam doubled with Brett Lee, three crosses of Steve Kavanagh's Follow Through, but has US sire Hondo Black as the sire of his 2nd dam.
