Kate’s House

I HAVE always believed Run's House had a pedigree that could make him a successful stud dog.

By Awesome Assassin-Amy's Sonnet, he won the Maturity, was runner-up in the Topgun and Bendigo Cup, and a finalist in the Melbourne Cup, Silver Chief and Warrnambool Cup.

His pedigree is almost identical to that of Collision. Both are by Awesome Assassin, both have Malawi's Prince in the damline. Compare their services fees and Run's House is a pretty good alternative.

But Run's House does have a bonus, the fact his tail female line runs directly to Lyn Osti the daughter of champion producer Osti's Shadow and granddaughter of legend Osti Lee.

Run's House was only lightly used when he first went to stud and despite this he is showing signs of being able to upgrade his offspring and certainly a number of them can run and run VERY fast.

These include the sensational White Knuckles an Australian Cup finalist who has won in 29.33 around Sandown.

Only two dogs have gone faster.

Last week at Sandown, Run's House produced a very promising bitch called Kate's House who ran 29.78 to win a Restricted Win Final from some very promising dogs.

Kate's House was produced by True Brew (Black Shiraz-Boardwalk Lady) the winner of 16 races all of them over sprints. Her lack of 520m stamina meant she was never brought to the city, but at one time she won 10 in succession on Victorian provincial tracks.

There was no doubt she could run and Run's House has obviously upgraded the stamina side of things because Kate's House has already won over 600m at The Meadows.

True Brew was a half sister to the SA Sprint Championship winner Astro's Memory.

Their dam Boardwalk Lady was placed at Group level and was out of Santa's Helper a sister to two Group performers.

When True Brew was put to Run's house, it brought in a 5x4 link to the litter sisters Osti's Shadow and Caroline's Hope (Admiral Lynch-Osti Lee).

Doubling the Osti Lee damline works. Where's Pedro and Hallucinate are proof of that.

The mating that produced Kate's House also boasts three crosses of Shining Chariot, two through sons and one through a daughter. Run's House is already line bred to Shining Chariot and his sister Centrefire.

There are many other aspects of this pedigree that are interesting, but generally hidden back in the depths of its make-up.

I believe Kate's House could develop into a very fine broodbitch in years to come. She has many aspects of her pedigree that can be utilized when she goes to stud to help her succeed.

Malawi's Prince can be duplicated in many, many ways, Val Matese can be brought in again via a mating to Velocette, sons or grandsons of Where's Pedro/Hallucinate are an option, and Black Shiraz could be linked with his brothers Big Ginger Boy or Ginger McGee, or even duplicated himself.

WHILE Kate's House was looking good again last week at Sandown, Sandhog (Collide-Mohar) was again adding to his reputation and that of his immediately family.

Sandhog has now won 24 races right around the country.

The pedigree of Sandhog is an extremely interesting one, put together between a stud dog and broodbitch that are both heavily line bred.

Sandhog is the result of sire and dam providing just what the other needed to produce a successful litter.

Sandhog, of course, is a brother to the outstanding stayer Sitka and a half brother another Group performer in Koocanusa (by Bombastic Shiraz).

Let's first start with the pedigree of Mohar (Awesome Assassin-Our Jessica) who was a fine country South Australian performer winning 12 races in a long career.

This bitch shows a 3x2 cross of Centrefire and her litter brother Pure Talent (Chariot Supreme-Shining Light).

The mix of Centrefire and her other full brother Shining Chariot is nearly always a winner.

It is rare to find Pure Talent within a pedigree. Mohar also has a cross of Bowetzel, the half brother to Shining Light, in her pedigree.

If we look at the pedigree of Collide (Brett Lee-Rumble Spirit) the Adelaide Cup winner, we find he is line bred 3x3 to Brother Fox via a son and daughter and appearing at the very top of Collide's pedigree and the very bottom.

To help Collide become a success at stud, he needs to mate bitches that return to him common and dominant ancestors that appear BETWEEN the double of Brother Fox.

When Mohar went to collide, he introduced a supplication of New Tears 4x4 via s daughter and son. New Tears comes in between the double of Brother Fox in the pedigree of Collide.

She also brought in more Bowetzel (twice) to link with his sister Shining Light who is duplicated in the pedigree of Mohar.

The position of Bowetzel (as damsire of Malawi's Prince in the pedigree of collide) and Shining Light in the pedigree of Sandhog (and Sitka) is very strongly placed to impact this mating.

When Mohar was mated to Bombastic Shiraz to produce National Sprint finalist Koocanusa, the double of Centrefire and her litter brother Pure Talent met up with their full brother Shining Chariot.

Awesome Assassin, sire of Mohar, also traces directly along his tail female line to Riviera Tiger (a son of champion broodbitch Riviera Moss).

Bombastic Shiraz's sixth dam is Zulu Moss a sister to Riviera Moss (Clay Moss-Cursorial).

Mohar traces directly to Mandalass (her sixth dam). Black Shiraz (sire of Bombastic Shiraz) has Mandalass as his fourth dam.

NOW for one out of left field.

Anyone remotely interested in pedigrees should take a look at the make-up of a three-year-old filly called Plum Pretty who last Saturday (Australian time) won the Kentucky Oaks.

She is by Medaglia Doro-Liszy and it is as impressive a pedigree as I have ever seen.

The line breeding in her dam Liszy to famed broodmare La Troienne is intense.

The pedigree of Plum Pretty can be seen by searching the web at

www.pedigreequery.com/plum+pretty

It is well worth a look, specially the pedigree that went to make up the dam Liszy.
