Group Racing Stars

SO much happening at the weekend, headed of course by Schillaci's all-the-way win in $1.6 million The Phoenix at The Meadows on Saturday night.

But, Group races were run everywhere around the country and there are some fabulous pedigree matches among them that deserve looking at.

Schillaci (Hard Style Rico-Flying Hareeba by Fabregas) is first cab off the rank of course.

The standout of his pedigree is the 4x4 of littermates Path To Power and Witch Magic (Awesome Assassin-Star Witch) who are placed to hugely impact with each other.

The dam, Flying Hareeba, started 22 times for five wins and $7000.

Is the double of littermates the turning point for Schillaci's racetrack success? Certainly looks like it.

What is also interesting is that Hard Style Rico's son, Ducati Roy, was beaten a lip when 2nd in the G1 Hobart 1000 on Thursday night and he too is bred on the same Hard Style Rico/Fabregas cross.

ISLE OF ROSE (Barcia Bale-Hello Mavis by Oaks Road) was impressive winning last Thursday night's G2 Sandown Laurels.

Down from Sydney, she is quality and has a brother, Tarawi Tiger, with great Group class ability as well.

Their dam, Hello Mavis, is intensely in-bred 3x3 to the half relations Leprechaun Yap and Royal Assassin, both out of the grand producer Leprechaun Miss. You will all be aware this is the damline of National Dingaan and her famous, famous mum National Lass.

And, you should also be aware that National Dingaan is incestuously in-bred 3x2 to Zimbabwe and her litter brother Chief Dingaan.

So, how in-bred does that make Hello Mavis! No wonder she is proving a Group class producer.

Interesting too is the fact Isle Of Rose has a strong Wheeler connection through Lansley Bale (in sire Barcia Bale) and Proper Tears (in the damline of Hello Mavis).

OVER in WA, Couch Surfer (Fernando Bale-Deluxe Model by Kinloch Brae) continued on his winning ways with victory in the Christmas Gift.

As in the case of Isle Of Rose, he is line bed to Lansley Bale and the same damline in Fernando Bale.

But, he is also bred on the same Fernando Bale/.Kinloch Brae cross as Sennachie.

ALSO at The Meadows on Saturday night was Mepunga Shine (Shima Shine-Mepunga Molly by Fernando Bale) strutting his stuff when winning the G1 Silver Chief.

What a broodbitch goldmine Mepunga Molly is already. She's the dam of G1 Sandown Cup winner Korda (by Mepunga Blazer) and a host of other Group stars.

Putting Mepunga Molly to Shima Shine brought in a 2x3 of the identically bred Shima Song and Chloe Allen both of them bred on the Primo Uno/Wheeler damline cross.

There are few better breeders than Barry Smith in Victoria. And Fernando Bale daughters continue to grow and grow and grow in stature. Check out just a smattering of superstar out of daughters of Fernando Bale ... Amron Boy, Good Odds Cash, Big Energy, Plaintiff, Crumble Monelli, Just A Sort, Like Wildfire, Korda, Embrace, Zoha Bale, Yachi Bale ... where do we stop!

UP in Sydney at Wenty, Valpolicella and Zipping Caleb were winning the Christmas goodies.

Valpolicella (Shima Shine-Saldana by Heston Bale) landed the G3 Christmas Cheer and Zipping Caleb (Flying Ricciardo-Zipping Lilly by Don't Knocka Him) took out the G3 Christmas Gift.

Valpolicella traces to a fabulous Queensland damline that originally stemmed from Ireland.

But, the mating plus in her pedigree is that Shima Shine and Heston Bale are virtually brothers. They bring in the littermates Princess Bale and Bartrim Bale, and that strong Gail's Beauty damline influence.

Zipping Caleb, of course, is out of that tried and tested broodbitch Zipping Lilly the mother of superstar Zipping Kyrgios.

But, there is a great degree of commonality in the pedigree of Zipping Caleb as well.

Check out the similarity in the pedigrees of Megalodon (dam of Flying Ricciardo) and Tricky Gypsy (2nd dam of Zipping Caleb).

They both bring in Bombastic Shiraz and the Brett Lee influence.
