He, naturally, went for Fabregas the Group 1 National Sprint son of Bombastic Shiraz-Wicked Witch.
Brad knew exactly what he would be getting ... Group class pups.
Last Thursday night at Albion Park, one of the Fabregas-Big Gift bitches, already sold by Brad to Deb Coleman in Victoria, led throughout to win the Group 2 Qld Futurity to justify the $50,000 price tag Brad had put on her.
Brad has one at home even better.
But, the mating of Big Gift to Fabregas had already been proven for Brad Canty via his superstar race dog No Donuts.
No Donuts would win the Group 1 Sale Cup, Group 1 Zoom Top, Group 2 Summer Distance Plate, run a track record at Bendigo and be placed in three other Group finals. He would also make three other Group 1 finals.
No Donuts, you see, is by Fabregas from a daughter of Big Daddy Cool ... exactly the pedigree of She's Gifted.
Fabregas with bitches that carry a cross of Big Daddy Cool in their pedigree has worked exceptionally well. Many city winners are bred on this cross.
So, what is so special about it?
Big Daddy Cool is a genetic brother to Bearability the sire of Fabregas' third mother the Group 1 winner Star Witch.
I suggest you look ever so closely at the pedigrees of both Big Daddy Cool and Bearability. They are exact.
Both are from the Credibility sireline, both their dams are by New Tears, and they both have a cross of Bowetzel up close in their granddam.
While Bearability might be well back in the direct damline of Fabregas, he is however positioned to be able to impact with Big Daddy Cool in the pedigree of No Donuts and now the Group 2 Qld Futurity winner She's Gifted.
She's Gifted is out of Big Gift (Big Daddy Cool-Chris' Gift) who raced successfully in Australia before being sent to NZ where she was second in the Group 2 Dash For Cash.
That, obviously, gave her the credentials to become a broodbitch.
This is the direct damline of that famed producer Pitstock Park the dam of legend Brother Fox and his champion half brother Acacia Park.
People's Choice (sixth dam of She's Gifted) is a full sister to Acacia Park from a repeat mating.
This is the direct damline of Brindle County who has served the Northfield family on the Northern Rivers of NSW so well in the past decade or two.
JUST like No Donuts' proven pedigree recipe, the same can be said for Group 2 Maitland Cup winner Aston Duke.
The son of Go Wild Teddy-Aston Elle swept to victory against a hot field last Thursday night.
Interesting that among the beaten finalists was Aston Dinnigan an older genetic sister to Aston Duke.
Aston Dinnigan is by Go Wild Teddy's champion son Barcia Bale from Group 1 placed Aston Elle.
And, Aston Dinnigan is a litter sister to champion Aston Dee Bee (G1 Melbourne Cup etc).
The Go Wild Teddy-Aston Elle mating is interesting to say the least. It brings in three crosses of Malawi's Prince, two of them hugely placed to impact with each other in a 3x4 position.

Black Magic Opal has been a very good stud dog. And, a feature of his progeny is that they generally appear to have long race careers.
I don't believe enough breeders take this into account when deciding to breed with a bitch.
